Márta Nagy-Rothengass

Márta Nagy-Rothengass is currently Head of Unit "Data Value Chain" in DG CONNECT at European Commission.

She was born in Paks, Hungary. In 1987 she graduated in Economics at the University of Economics, Budapest, Hungary majoring in Foreign Commerce/Marketing. She continued at the same university, doing a Doctor's degree in Marketing in 1991. She went on to Danube University, Krems, Austria where she obtained her Masters in Business Administration in 2001. She speaks Hungarian, German, Russian and English.

Wlodek Zadrozny

Resarcher at IBM Resarch. For the last 15 years mostly focused on helping IBM and its clients use natural language processing technologies. Before Watson/DeepQA involved in projects aimed at using semantic search to improve information access for sales professionals and leveraging intangible assets in the enterprise (often described in text documents). Prior to that he was part of the team working to increase the role of IBM Research in Global Consulting. He coordinated research and development of UIMA, IBM's (and now Apache's) Unstructured Information Management Architecture.

Hans Uszkoreit

Professor and Chair of the Department of Computational Linguistics and Phonetics at Saarland University. Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) where he heads the DFKI Language Technology Lab. Professor of the Computer Science Department and Principal Investigator of the Cluster of Excellence on Multimodal Computing and Interaction of the DFG (German Science Foundation).

Kimmo Rossi

Kimmo Rossi manages the research and innovation sector of the unit "Data value chain" at DG "Communication networks, content and technology" of the European Commission. He first worked in the software localization industry before joining the Commission in 1994. The past 12 years he has been working with European research and innovation programs, covering the life cycle from program planning, stakeholder consultation through evaluation, negotiating and monitoring of projects.

Adam Przepiórkowski

Adam Przepiórkowski

Prof. Przepiórkowski is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPIPAN), Head of the Linguistic Engineering Group. He holds an MSc in Computer Science (from the University of Warsaw, Poland), PhD in Theoretical Linguistics (from the University of Tübingen, Germany) and Habilitation in Computer Science (from IPIPAN). Currently, he is the Head of the National Corpus of Polish, the coordinator of the CLARIN working group 5.6 on Language Resources and Tools Integration and core WP leader in ATLAS consortium.

Tamás Váradi

Prof. Váradi is the deputy director and chair of the Department of Language Technology and Sociolinguistics at the Research Institute for Linguisticts, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In 1997 he founded the Department of Corpus Linguistics (later called Department of Language Technology), whose initial mission was the creation of the Hungarian National Corpus. Under Prof. Váradi’s supervision the department has participated in a number of major national and EU funded research projects in the area of machine translation, information extraction, language resources building.
